Software Support

Software Management

The following documents are can be used to initiate software changes in the computer laboratories. Please refer to Software Change Process before initiating a request.

Document  Description
Current Software List Below is a list of software used in the laboratories with a guide to the current level of support offered. SCIS will attempt to keep software up to date with current versions.
Change Request Form For new requests, changes or updates to the current software list, please complete and submit this form. A Software Selection Guide has been provided to assist in your software selection.
Selection Guide This document is a guide for selecting course software. It is aligned with the schools strategies for online, overseas, laptop, home and on campus students. Software selected using this guide will ensure that students will receive the most benefit.
Software Change Process

The software change workflow defines the roles and responsibilities of staff during the software change process. Please read this process workflow before initiating a software request.

Guide to Software Support Levels

Indicator Meaning

Support for this package is generally rising.

Support for this package is generally decreasing.

H

High level of support - High level of knowledge of package, suitable licensing agreement, well supported, online help and documentation, supports the program well, workable/supported deployment methodologies. Technical staff fully support the use of this package.

M

Medium level of support - Medium knowledge of package, limited support, license restricting. Technical staff provide best effort.

L

Low level of support - Low knowledge of package, lecturers are 1st point of contact for support, license restricting, perhaps better alternatives exist. Technical staff are generally unable to provide support for this package.

O

Obsolete or duplicated.
